Click the video [...]]]> So I did a short film earlier this year, an all-volunteer cast & crew, to protest the passage of Proposition 8 here in California, which bans same sex marriage in favor of opposite marriage. The Supreme Court just ruled it constitutional, and the finished PSA was uploaded just after the decision.

We [...]]]> Did I mention I landed a part in a short film? Progressions is the working title. My weekend is all booked up with it, but it’s already been loads of fun. I’m the lead, and am in every scene, so although there are the requisite “hurry up and wait” moments, they are mighty few.

We almost hit a snag this morning, as the actress playing in the first scene we shot had twisted her ankle last night and could barely hobble. Fortunately, the DP on the shoot is the type who carries a wheelchair around in his car (specifically for use as a dolly), so she was wheeled up to the location in comfort.

Lucky for her, and everyone, she didn’t have to do any walking, just to sit in a corner and look scared and hurt. The hurt part was easy, of course.

We got a lot done today, the filming going so smoothly the director is nervous that there must be some disaster in the wings. We’ll see.

The final scene today was done on the street, and the crew rigged up this handy camera car.

A low budget does make you resourceful.
