Since I’m posting so much about my auditions lately, this Mr. Show sketch has been foremost in my mind. The setting is perfect, except the director/producer usually has a camera pointed at the actor so they can watch it again later.

Congressman Sherman (D-CA) was on CNBC to talk about the plan to tax AIG bonuses. He destroyed the weak attempts to paint him (and others in Congress) as anti-capitalist, and demonstrated, as did Jon Stewart with Jim Cramer, why CNBC is out of line to even attempt to defend its lack of reporting integrity. [...] I watched a clip of Jimmy Fallon’s “reality show” sketch from his talk show, and gagged. Not because it wasn’t funny, but because the white gym shoes he wore with his dark suit were disgusting. Why are you guys doing this? Why?! No! Bad Jimmy Fallon! Bad! Jesse McCartney? You look silly. Justin Timberlake? [...] Well, I don’t hate all of them, but I agree with enough of Julian Smith’s hates that it cracked me up. I think I’ve been guilty of #8. But for those of us who keep a tight friends list and don’t invite our general YouTube public to add us, having random people chat [...] I can’t tell if his new show will last more than a season, but it was good enough to bring me back for another week. It wasn’t Chappelle’s Show brilliant, but it was pretty good. I get the sense that Martin is a real person, by which I mean that he seems like he’s [...] Oh. My. Gluck! Krispy Kreme Bacon Cheddar Cheeseburgers More, so very much more, stuff at which to bulge your eyes at This is why you’re fat. This is amazing work. Jazz pianist Henry Hey did an outstanding job creating a song out of spoken words. We don’t often think about it, but words have musical pitch (which is obvious to anybody in China, where they use pitch & tone as an integral part of language). Hey used the pitch of George [...] So much. On its surface, it’s a Johnny Jonny Quest parody, but the show is everything I love and find ridiculous about superheroes and adventure series all rolled into one beautiful package. My favorite character on it is Doctor Orpheus, a parody of Marvel’s evil-thwarting thaumaturge, Doctor Strange. No one will find this as hilarious [...] I don’t care what anybody thinks, I love these songs. I bought this one, among others: He’s got a gleaming pile of these. Did I mention the time I almost destroyed my family’s livelihood with one careless match? We were living in Safford, Arizona.
