This one is obvious. I’m about to make the Jenna-Bush-inspired satanic metal, dude ASL for “I love you.” This is an unusual drawing exercise: draw your drawing hand with the instrument as you work. Life has a tendency to seem complicated and make us feel overwhelmed. Busywork fills up the day and we sometimes forget what’s important. That may be edging dangerously close to comment spam platitudery, but somtimes homiles and aphorisms are just true. The opening lyrics of Orbital’s Time Becomes give the reference to the title. The image comes from having Blueberry on the brain. I have no idea what this thing is. Erm, maybe I don’t want to know. This is the avatar I use on Audioscrobbler and Selfies. If the text is a bit fuzzy for you, it says, “Apologies to Julian Opie.” I love his portraits and I think they capture an essence of his subjects. One of these days I’ll archive the whole thing, as it was (much to my relief) well-received. This piece is circa 1996, and was intended to be a promotional item for the book.
