Guess who’s been watching Channel Frederator? Another sketch here, for a logo. We’ll see if he gets his own series in the future. Ever have one of those days when your doodles take on a secret alter ego of their own? Um, me too. (Trademark that title, Marvel & DC, I dares ya.) Here are a couple of sketches from a recent trip to the Huntington. It’s a nice place to sit and draw, lots of grand architecture, giant rare plants, and plenty of people. Though that last group is always in motion, so they have to be sketched quickly. The statues are easier. I got a request from a friend for more posts I was watching the PBS arts show “EGG” recently and noticed that they blurred women’s nipples and butt cracks in live action and photographs, but not in paintings. It’s inconsistent, however, and occasionally they’ll leave old photos alone, or allow nipples to show through wet cloth. What is wrong with us? How is anyone harmed [...] I realized after I posted the last time that the image I drew, like the one before it, has no context for anyone who’s started reading about O’Shea and Greymatter on-line. I dread doing nothing but scanning comics for the next few days just to get the missing bits up, so I may just go [...] The Moleskine sketch book is working out fine, but I think I’m going to prefer the larger size. This piece was drawn from life in watercolor pencil, then washed in at home a day later. The scanner is operational again, and there’s a new segment of O’Shea in the pipeline. Gimme a couple of days [...] Just goes to show, a digital camera is no substitute for a scanner. Once I find the box it was packed into, it’s getting plugged in. Yeah, I know it’s a rotten pun, but I’m sick and on Benadryl. It tends to make one a little loopy. Anyhoo, here’s a quick eight minute or so sketch, no reference. I don’t have a lot of girls on the site, so here’s a quick one. The upcoming segment of O’Shea has another. |
