Audition in The Valley
NoHo! The burgeoning arts district in North Hollywood was my destination this morning. I was playing the part of a Catholic priest. It was a decent role, and the script was more interesting than I’m used to seeing from a student film. It felt a bit rushed, I think because there was more to be explored than could fit into a few pages. This story could work well as a feature. Maybe they’ll turn it into one, one of these days.
We did our thing in a tiny room upstairs in the building, and again, I could hear the audition before me. It’s a bit of an unfair advantage to be able to gauge how my competition shapes up, but the movie biz is cutthroat, baby. Take what you can get. It went smoothly, I thought. I read through once, then was asked to do it again a second time with a slightly different style and attitude by the director. I was able to give her what she asked for, and she had me do it a third time a bit differently from that. I felt I couldn’t have done better than I did, a rarity for me. Things went really well, so I’m sure I won’t get the part. Film is weird like that.

A person has an audition in the valley and doesn’t call a person?
:)
I can coach you on auditions, you know. I have a casting couch in my office!
Nice Disney blog, btw. xoxo
